The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is low-cost, often leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pressed up the rate of oil, the issue of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually entered sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing profitable too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
